Mt. Fuji Autumn Leaves Photo Tour - Lake Saiko

Japan Dreamscapes (JDS) Photography Tour Leaders pride themselves on making their Mt. Fuji Autumn Leaves Photo Tours meaningful for each client.  That means taking the visiting photographer to each of the Fuji Five Lakes.  Kawaguchiko is the most famous of the Fuji Five Lakes, but there are just as many spectacular views from the other lakes.

Lake Saiko has a more challenging perspective to put Mt. Fuji and its autumn leaves into focus behind the lake in the foreground due to the overlap with other mountains that are close to the iconic Fujisan.  However, your JDS photography workshop leader will take you to just the right location to capture the autumn leaves and Mt. Fuji in the same breathtaking photo op.

The lake’s surroundings are covered with amazing landscapes that are exceptionally beautiful during the fall season.  The hiking trails are very often occupied with visitors trying to find that quintessential photo to encapsulate their experience exploring the Fuji Five Lakes as well as Mt. Fuji.

Another location nearby is the Aokigahara Jukai, the Sea of Trees.  The forest is 30 square kilometers of hardened lava laid down by the last major eruption of Fujisan in 864. The trees and plants grow in natural volcanic planting pots and peat moss, in a volcanic forest there is no soil. The forest is extremely photogenic, and the forest is very dense and the porous lava absorbs sound, adding to the solitude.

Three caves have also been made photographer friendly and are in the vicinity of Lake Saiko.  The three caves are: The Ice Cave, The Wind Cave, and The Bat Cave.  Not only do these spots provide amazing photo ops with the twists and turns of the caves with several openings, tunnels, and chambers to explore, the entrance areas will be encircled with countless trees all decorated in the golds, reds, and oranges that characterize autumn at the Fuji Five Lakes.
